I first met Aragorn when I was fifteen. I didn’t understand him then. It was only later that I began to understand how troubled he was, haunted by his place in history and the possiblity that he would fail in the face of great evil, as his ancestors had. He kept his fear and uncertainty to himself until the time came to face what he had to do, and was victorious. He saved his friends, and he saved mankind. In the time of the return of kings, Aragorn became king.
